For me, it started when I was 6 years old. I was young and overweight, but I liked sports. So naturally, I started in the weight room at an early age to counteract being heavy. I still remember the free weight circuit I did for wrestling in 1st grade.
Fitness and Weight Management started as a struggle for me, and now it has become a necessity for My Happiness and Health. My First Diet was in the summer between my 8th grade and Freshman year. It was a total Fat Free diet. And come to think of it, it was horrible for me. But I lost weight and got in shape for Football. Unfortunately, When Football ended I soon regained the weight. I ended up going on and off Diets for the next 5 years with no real success but with lots of up and downs.
I did not have lasting success losing weight and staying in shape until I understood the true underlying causes of my weight gain. I realized this while searching for Health and Energy not looking for weight loss.
I changed my approach and diet after being diagnosed with Chronic Fatigue Syndrome at 19 years old. It is hard for someone to understand how tired and lethargic a sick person can be until they go through it themselves. For me, it started with a horrible case of Mononucleosis infection and increased intensity over the next 3 years. Being exhausted for so long took so much from me. But with out it, I would not have realized how much of Health and happiness comes from my Fitness and Diet.
At this point, I have lost over 70lbs and have kept it off for over 10 years. I have more energy now than I did 20 years ago. And, it comes from my focus on natural foods, health based exercise and proper sleep patterns. I pay for every slip up on my diet with weight gain and health problems.
Corrective Exercise Kept Me Going
At 21, I suffered a ligament rupture in my left foot practicing Martial Arts and preparing for MMA fight. After a very long recovery, I was delivered horrible news from my Orthopedic Doctor that I will probably never be able to run long distances again, and I would surely have to give up Kickboxing. Honestly, I probably could have gone without the running, but not Kickboxing. I was determined to make a full comeback against the odds. With the help corrective exercise and stability based fitness, I made a full recovery. 15 years later, I am still Kickboxing, and I can run all I want. The human body is an amazing creation. It can recover from horrible injuries. We just have to give it the right stimulus.
I have spent the last 12 years perfecting personalized fitness routines and diet plans for my clients. As I true Science Geek, I have spent hours reading Fitness Books, Research, and Biomechanical Rationals. My goal is to help every one reach his or hers fitness goals while creating a Healthier and Happier person. The proper Diet and Exercise Routine has changed my life, and I hope the same for everyone of my clients.
